Monday 24th February, only 4 days until the beginning of March and St. David’s Day celebrations, yet just the start of another average working week in Bridgend town centre… Almost. Whilst most moan and groan at the dawn of the least favourite day of seven, at Nolton Corner Monday is the metaphorical mile marker in a gruelling yet exciting race towards our official launch. Nestled away and hidden from sight, the NC team is diligently working towards bringing Bridgend a brand new bar experience.
What began as something of a dream concept in an idealistic Bridgend is slowly becoming reality, and with each Monday that passes, the notion edges closer. Over the past weeks of 2014, we’ve taken a tired, old office space and stripped tens of tonnes of rubble and clutter from it. We’ve discovered leaks and stepped on nails, built walls then decided to knock them down, only to build them back up again, and boiled the kettle a thousand times…
When we haven’t had a screwdriver in hand, it’s been a pencil and we’ve been drawing up a drinks menu fit for a king. We’ve penned a fine array of liquid nourishments and soon enough we’ll be supping beverages a little stiffer than those from our fine boiling pot.
At the moment we’ve a building site, but hidden amongst the chaos and power tools is a vision… And hopefully, in only a handful of Mondays, by the time Easter has passed and chocolate eggs are no longer for another year, we can share our exploits with you.
But for the time being, it’s just another manic Monday.
